I-THRIVE – YOUTH MENTORING PROGRAM
Men for Hope, Inc. and Gethsemane Community Fellowship Baptist Church have partnered to provide a structured program that will directly impact those most affected by the epidemic of absentee fathers and neighborhood violence.
Developed by Dr. Kirk T. Houston, I-THRIVE is a community of men dedicated to supporting young men who are in need of positive male influence and guidance. I-THRIVE seeks to provide researched, evidence-based support, and an environment that will help young men thrive. The mentors are trained, committed and passionate in their endeavor to instill and reinforce positive values, healthy self-esteem, and optimism for their future. LINKU – THE EDUCATION CONNECTION
Invest in “His” Success is a tuition-assistance initiative aimed to provide young men in search of a brighter future with the financial assistance to achieve their academic goals. A donation of $165 covers the cost of one credit hour through our “Link U” – on online platform resulting from Men for Hope’s partnership with Pearson Education, the American Council of Education, and Graduate America. BULLYING PREVENTION – GANG REDUCTION – GUN SAFETY
NCPCV has a successful history of building and providing solutions to preventing and reducing violence through a number of key initiatives. Our organization has developed national, state, and local policies and training in the areas of Bullying Prevention, Gang Reduction, Dating and Domestic Violence Prevention, Children’s Gun Safety, and Community Civility.
THE CHRISTMAS PARADE FOR CHILDREN
Men for Hope, Inc. has partnered with The Ricky Johnson & Friends Foundation to bring The Christmas Parade for Children to Hampton Roads.
Since 2006, The Ricky Johnson and Friends Foundation has been making a difference in communities in and around the Richmond Metropolitan area. Now in its 11th year, The Ricky Johnson and Friends Foundation has extended its reach into several other cities in Virginia and has touched the lives of tens of thousands of children and families. Born out of a desire to be a blessing to others, Johnson’s foundation along with its partners has committed itself to enhancing the lives of others through charitable giving, mentoring, and education. The Christmas Parade for Children is the crown jewel of the Ricky Johnson and Friends Foundation’s charitable efforts in which toys and Christmas presents are delivered via motorcade to over thirty thousand children and families. The foundation’s founder Ricky Johnson insists that giving to those less fortunate is one of the greatest outward symbols of respect for humanity and demonstrates an appreciation for all that one has been given.
PREVENTING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Men for Hope, Inc. has partnered with The Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence is a 501(c)(3) organization that makes communities safer by translating research into policy. The Ed Fund achieves this by engaging in:
Policy Development: The Ed Fund is the gun violence prevention movement’s premier research intermediary and founder of the Consortium for Risk-Based Firearm Policy, a group of academics and practitioners who collaborate to develop innovative recommendations for policymakers.
Advocacy: The Ed Fund influences the policymaking process by lobbying, educating policymakers, and disseminating our message through media advocacy and outreach.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement: The Ed Fund works with impacted community members to create a voting bloc trained to advocate for policies that reduce gun violence.
Technical Assistance: The Ed Fund supports policymakers and gun violence prevention advocates by drafting and implementing groundbreaking, evidence-based policy. Read more
